Metal forming process for aluminum and steel alloys that is similar to current perforated cardboard technology. This stamping/punching process creates fatigue lances in metal that allow highly accurate, complex shapes to be easily folded with low force. The folds created by the lances allow the formation of stronger, higher fatigue resistance, load bearing assemblies that significantly reduce welding and fastening. These lances are also designed to maintain optimal edge to face engagement for high tensile strength materials. Oblique orientation of the "strap" reduces localized stress that occurs during folding; allowing folding of high tensile strength materials otherwise unachievable by conventional forming methods.

Edge to face folding is the primary strength retention mechanism which allows low force folding and excellent strength retention to co-exist. This process offers the ability to store and ship metal objects flat with fewer mechanical operations and eliminates waste. It is scalable to any size and is limited only by the metal producer's requirements. The manufacturer has worked with material as thin as 0.015 in (0.38 mm) and as thick as 2 in (51 mm). Applications are found in the construction, automotive, furniture, appliance and substrate industries.
