San Francisco, CA, October 7, 2009 -- Industrial Origami, the leading provider of innovative sheet material design and manufacturing solutions, has named V. Gerry Corrigan President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Corrigan comes to Industrial Origami with more than 25 years of industrial experience in the plastics, precision tooling, coating and specialty products industries.
Corrigan joins Industrial Origami at a time when consumer and industrial product companies are searching for innovative technologies to transform their business: improving cost and performance with light, high strength fabrication; shortening the design-to-production cycle; reducing the capital costs required for new product introduction, and controlling sheet-material forming costs in volatile raw material markets. Industrial Origami enables the design and assembly of higher performing, lower-cost sub-assemblies using sheet metals and plastics while empowering product innovation with cost controls not possible using traditional manufacturing methods.
At Industrial Origami, Gerry will lead the growth of its operations in current markets while aggressively expanding into new markets and geographies, positioning the company for its next, sustained growth phase. He will focus on the development of strategic partnerships both with lead customers as well as key providers to target industries.
"Industrial Origami technology and design services bring new precision to the production of a broad range of industrial products," said V. Gerry Corrigan, President and CEO. "Our innovative folding methods allow designers to incorporate geometrically complex designs, eliminate the use of fasteners, reduce quality assurance concerns and improve competitiveness. In addition to reducing manufacturing costs we offer significant environmental benefits by reducing material use, rework and eliminating wasteful shipping of 'air'."
"Industrial Origami is a great example of disruptive technology in 'green manufacturing' - an investment theme that we expect to attract more venture capital investment over the coming years." said Patrick Sheehan, Partner with Environmental Technologies Fund, Industrial Origami's largest investor.. "Industrial Origami technology allows companies to significantly reduce the amount of sheet metal in products, providing meaningful cost and environmental benefits. The technology has the potential to change supply chain costs, and carbon footprint, in innovative ways. Gerry Corrigan's appointment successfully positions the company for rapid growth."
Prior to Industrial Origami, Gerry held a variety of senior management roles at PPG Industries, instituting processes that improved quality through variation reduction, rigorous standardization and statistical analysis, reducing quality control cycle time by 70% and boosting first run capability by 40 percent. He left PPG Industries to become President and CEO of ColorMatrix Corporation, the world's leading supplier of liquid colorants and additives for the thermoplastic industry and a major supplier of fluoropolymer concentrates. While at ColorMatrix, Gerry oversaw the company's evolution from traditional colorant company to a premier Specialty Chemical supplier, doubling the company's enterprise value in five years.
Corrigan received a BS in Biology from Oberlin College and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College.
